Friday, October 19th

Speakers

Keynote Speaker: Mary Jane Weiss

Mary Jane Weiss

Dr. Mary Jane Weiss, Ph.D., BCBA-D is the new Executive Director of Research at Melmark. She is also a Professor at Endicott College, where she directs the Master’s Programin ABA and Autism. Dr. Weiss has worked in the field of ABA and Autism for over 25 years. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University in 1990 and she became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2000. She previously served as Director of Research and Training and as Clinical Director of the Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center at Rutgers University for 16 years. Her clinical and research interests center on defining best practice ABA techniques, on evaluating the impact of ABA in learners with autism, in training staff to be optimally effective at instruction, and in maximizing family members’ expertise and adaptation.

Invited Speaker: Billy Edwards, BCBA

Billy has been directly involved in service delivery to persons with disabilities for over 20 years. He has practiced as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2000 and is an active member of The Association for Behavior Analysis International and The Texas Association for Behavior Analysis (TxABA). Following his tenure as President he assumed the role of Annual Conference Coordinator and Chairman. During his tenure as Executive Director of Behavioral Innovations, the company expanded it’s operations to include seven service locations throughout Texas and it became widely regarded as an industry leader as a result of its services and efforts to work with insurance companies and families throughout the state of Texas. Billy is now the Director of the Clemson University Youth Learning Institute Center for Behavior Analysis where he is creating an online educational program in Behavior Analysis, an International Outreach program in Behavior Analysis, and working with multiple state organizations to improve the quality of services for those with Developmental Disabilities.
